Christina Mitrentse is a multi-disciplinary London based artist concerned with esoteric qualities of cultural construction through manifold processes of book art, drawing, print ,sculpture and productions of site-specific installation. Since 2000 she has continued to freely create narratives and poetic ensembles of non -normalized but idiosyncratic institutions i.e schools, libraries, churches and museums. ‘The Secret School’ 2005 housed at a WWII bomb shelter just before the London bombings. The well celebrated project My Library 2006-on-going, takes a journey into the cultural life of a MetaLibrary designed to provoke changes in the material book while de- institusionalising it in the process (see Add To My Library Vol II). Mitrentse is also interested in how the preservation and dissemination of ideas and symbols impacts on what is valued and overlooked in society.
